ABOUT Milos Gazdic,
Commercial Photographer | Shanghai, CHINA
Miloš Gazdic is an international photographer based in Shanghai, specialising in beauty, hair and commercial photography.
Alongside his photography career, he brings 17 years of advertising experience, having worked across nine countries. As a Creative Director within the BBDO and Grey agency networks, he worked across creative direction, concept development and directing while continuing to shape his own photographic practice. This background gives him a strong understanding of brands, ideas and the way agencies operate, allowing him to approach photography not simply as a visual discipline, but as an integral part of a broader campaign.
His work moves comfortably between highly polished commercial imagery and more natural, instinctive photography. Beauty, hair and people remain at the heart of much of his work, while his broader experience extends across advertising, lifestyle, portraiture, fashion, food and beverage, and children’s photography. What connects these different areas is a strong sense of character, atmosphere and detail, together with an instinct for creating images that feel both considered and alive.
Working with people remains one of the aspects of photography he values most. Whether photographing actors, models, celebrities or everyday individuals, Miloš looks for genuine expression, presence and emotion. He believes the strongest images often come from creating an environment in which people feel comfortable enough to be themselves. While the on-set process is spontaneous, it remains focused and collaborative.
Beyond commercial assignments, he develops personal projects centred around people and society. These projects explore identity, human connection and the emotional experiences that shape how we understand ourselves and one another. They reflect his belief that photography can be visually compelling while still carrying a sense of curiosity, humour, intimacy and meaning.
Based in Shanghai, Miloš works internationally and travels worldwide for commissions. Through Studio Dare | 大胆, his Shanghai-based studio and production team, he also provides complete local production support for international agencies, brands and production companies shooting in China, offering a trusted local base for projects of different scales and levels of complexity.
Outside photography, he has a long-standing fascination with WWII aviation history, has built a vinyl collection of more than 10,000 records, and enjoys baking and making pancakes for his daughter and friends.

FAQ
What does Miloš Gazdic specialise in?
Miloš specialises in beauty, hair and advertising photography, with people at the heart of much of his work. His broader experience spans lifestyle, portraiture, fashion, food and beverage, children and selected product photography. Based in Shanghai, he brings close to thirty years of photography experience together with seventeen years in advertising, including Creative Director roles within the BBDO and Grey agency networks.
Does Miloš shoot outside China?
Yes. Miloš is based in Shanghai and works internationally, travelling worldwide for commissions and productions. He is available for assignments across China, Asia, the Middle East, Europe and other international markets.
Do you offer studio space and production support?
Yes. Miloš is the founder of Studio Dare | 大胆, a full-service commercial photography studio in Shanghai. The studio provides shooting space, equipment, a dedicated food styling kitchen and complete production support.
Through Studio Dare, international agencies, brands, photographers and production companies can also access casting, locations, crew, hair and makeup, styling, set production, equipment, logistics and local coordination for shoots in China.
How are fees calculated?
We quote every project individually based on the scope of the shoot, usage requirements and production needs. The photography fee is calculated separately from production, licensing, retouching and any additional services required.
Send Miloš a brief with as much information as possible, and he will provide a clear and detailed estimate for the project.
How do we start a project, and what is the usual lead time?
The best place to start is with a brief that includes proposed dates, creative references, deliverables, usage and any known production requirements. Miloš will then advise on availability, timing and the most suitable production approach.
Shoots can often be arranged on relatively short notice, although booking earlier gives greater flexibility in securing talent, crew, locations, and studio time.
How can I get in touch?
For additional portfolios, project enquiries and estimates, please email milos@studiodareshanghai.com.
You can also view selected work across the different portfolios on this website.
Do you offer video or motion as well as stills?
Miloš focuses primarily on still photography. When a campaign also requires motion, Studio Dare works with a trusted network of directors, cinematographers and videographers, allowing stills and motion to be produced together as part of the same production.
This makes it possible to coordinate both sides of a campaign efficiently while keeping the visual direction and production consistent.
How does image licensing and usage work?
We agree on image usage before the shoot and include it clearly in each estimate.
Licensing is based on factors including the number of final images, the territories in which they will be used, the length of usage and the media in which the campaign will appear. This allows the usage agreement to reflect each project's actual scale and requirements.
Do you provide retouching and post-production?
Yes. We can provide professional retouching, colour grading, and post-production when required, quoted separately based on the project's needs.
This includes high-end beauty and skin retouching for advertising campaigns, as well as streamlined post-production for larger-volume and e-commerce projects.
Do you work with international brands and agencies?
Yes. Miloš regularly works with international brands, advertising agencies and production companies and is experienced with international campaign standards and workflows.
Through Studio Dare, projects in China can also be handled bilingually, with support for local crews, casting, talent, locations and production coordination. This provides international clients with a familiar working process while benefiting from an experienced local production network.
